Optimizing your Spendr Set Up: In-Store Best Practices

Finding the best Spendr set up for your needs is easy. Get started with the best practices below to maximize your Spendr experience from day one.

Operations

Setting Up Your Terminals

Terminals are required to start accepting payments through Spendr, and they connect the Spendr App to specific POS devices.

Our Recommendation: Create your terminal name to correspond with your existing POS stations (i.e., POS 1 in your store will be POS 1 on the Spendr App).

Setting Up Merchant Manager Account(s)

You must set up a Merchant Manager employee to accept payments through Spendr.

A Merchant Manager needs to be signed in to process payments through Spendr.

There are two ways to set up your Spendr manager accounts:

You can set up Individual Manager Accounts, which provides more account flexibility. Every Manager sets up their own account via their work email and phone number and creates their unique password—allowing Spendr logins across every POS at all times. We recommend this setup, as it provides flexibility in accessing all the important parts of Spendr.

Alternatively, you can create a General Manager Account which is faster to set up. Setting up a “General Manager” role that all managers would have access to is the easiest way to operate in the store. All you need is the store phone number and a collective email address, and your existing POS system will track each transaction.

Managing Clerks

Clerks have limited access to Spendr and are only able to accept payments. They can’t view payment reports, issue refunds, or manage terminal access.

There are two ways to set up your clerks/budtenders in Spendr:

Individual Clerk Accounts (Most effective)
General Clerk Account (Simplest to operate)

EOD Reconciliation

Code Spendr transactions as “Debit” (if no Debit reader is used) or “Check” to separate Spendr transactions from Cash transactions in your POS.

To reconcile your Spendr transactions, we recommend going in at the end of the day/week (depending on your ability) and filtering your transaction report by the chosen time frame. Then simply compare this total to the amount of “Debit” or “Check” transactions coded in your POS.

Accepting Payments

Spendr processes payments in two ways: QR code scan or push payment.

Marketing

Spendr provides a variety of co-marketing materials for our partners, making it easy to promote Spendr to your customers and ensure you’re getting the most value.

Accepting Payments

We provide a website banner announcing that your dispensary now accepts Spendr.

Putting this image on your website’s home page or menu page is an excellent opportunity to get the value of Spendr in front of customers early and often.

QR Code Print Assets

In addition to a variety of in-store print materials, we include a “QR Code Window Sticker.” This printable asset gives customers a brief overview of Spendr and a scannable link to download the next time they’re in the store.

This is a simple, powerful way to ensure your customers are aware of how Spendr can improve their checkout experience.

Pre-Launch Messaging

We also provide sample posts/copy for email, SMS, or social media that you can send out to customers before launch to let them know you’ll be accepting Spendr starting on [X] date.

This makes it much easier to transform your customer base into higher-value Spendr users. On the Spendr side, we announce the launch to a targeted group of Spendr users in your area via email and in-app messages.
